March 7, 2013 – Changes in how the shoreline is managed at Smith Mountain and Leesville lakes is under review at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). FERC staff is now requesting stakeholder input. Although a signed settlement agreement is now before the FERC, it is important to understand the agreement is an agreement between the parties involved in the negotiation. FERC now has a mandated responsibility to seek input from all stakeholders and is soliciting comments, motions to intervene, and protests on proposed changes to the Shoreline Management Plan.
