Feds: Future of Crescent Bar is up to PUD, courts By Christine Pratt World staff writer Friday, April 19, 2013 WASHINGTON — Federal dam regulators Thursday extricated themselves — at least for now — from the Grant County PUD’s eviction dispute with 400 property owners on Crescent Bar Island, saying that the decision must lie with the courts and the PUD itself. “The Commission has no jurisdiction to rule on private lease terms and other property rights,” an official for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) wrote in an April 18 order that authorizes the PUD’s plan to evict the island’s leaseholders and dedicate the island to public recreation and wildlife protection. “Such matters,” the official wrote, “must be resolved in an appropriate court.” Read the entire article HERE |
